Unfortunately, the last few weeks have been rather tough for Eintracht supporters.

After the winter training camp with three new signings (Mexican midfielder Marco Fabian, Hungarian set piece specialist Szabolcs Huszti and former Schalke 04 defender Kaan Ayhan), Eintracht were able to sack in three points courtesy of a 3-2 last minute victory against Bundesliga vice champions VfL Wolfsburg.

Since then, even though two additional players have joined SGE (Yanni Regäsel and Änis Ben-Hatira), Armin Veh’s side have claimed just one point from their last three league fixtures (0-0 vs. FC Augsburg, defeats vs. VfB Stuttgart and 1. FC Köln). Frankfurt now find themselves just one point ahead of the relegation play-off spot.

It’s time to collect some points! Tomorrow evening (Friday, 19 February 2016, kick-off at 20.30 CET), the Eagles face fellow strugglers HSV in what promises to be a tense affair.

Let’s keep our fingers crossed that Eintracht will be able to climb up a few spots in the table.

• This weekend will see SGE and HSV face off in the Bundesliga for the 94th time. HSV have had the upper hand in the 93 meetings to date (W41, D23, L29).
• However, Frankfurt are unbeaten in seven games against Hamburger SV (W4, D3). The Eagles won both meetings in 2012/13 and two draws took place in 2013/14. In 2014/15, SGE won in Hamburg before the winter break thanks to Lucas Piazon’s stunning late goal. Then, Frankfurt secured a 2-1 victory on their own patch. The two sides played out a goalless draw in this term’s reverse fixture (MD5).
• HSV’s last victory over Frankfurt dates back to January 2011 (1-0).

Season

• SGE have won just two of their last 11 Bundesliga games (D3, L6). Only Hannover (6) have accrued fewer points in this timeframe than Frankfurt (9, same as TSG).
• HSV beat BMG 3-2 on Sunday to end a six-game winless run and claim their first win of 2016. They have done well on the road in recent weeks (W2, D2, L1 – in Stuttgart, MD19).
