Dear Eagles around the globe,Some time has passed since we sent you the last edition of our little newsletter – time for us to inform you about the recent Eintracht developments.
Let us start with the good news: The summer break is over.
As you may have heard, the Eagles, who are still a first league club after having won the relegation play-offs against 1. FC Nürnberg (1-1 at home, 1-0 in Nuremberg), have signed several new players during the Bundesliga break: Danny Blum from relegation opponent 1. FC Nürnberg, Michael Hector on loan from Chelsea FC, Branimir Hrgota from Borussia Mönchengladbach, Omar Mascarell and, on loan, Jesús Vallejo from Real Madrid, Ante Rebic from Fiorentina, Taleb Tawatha from Maccabi Haifa, and Guillermo Varela on loan from Manchester United.
In addition, Armin Reutershahn has returned as assistant coach to Eintracht. He will support manager Niko Kovac together with fellow assistant coach Robert Kovac.
Also, both U19 goalkeeper Leon Bätge and U19 defender Furkan Zorba have signed contracts as professional football players with Eintracht.
Welcome to Eintracht, everyone! We wish you a great, injury-free and successful time!
What else has happened? While Makoto Hasebe, Alexander Meier, Johannes Flum and Marc Stendera have extended their contracts with the Eagles, a few players have left the club, including Stefan Aigner, who has returned to 1860 München, Carlos Zambrano, Constant Djakpa, Alexandar Ignjovski, Sonny Kittel, and Änis Ben-Hatira. Farewell, boys, and good luck! Thank you for everything you have done for the Eagles.
Eintracht Frankfurt have also played several test matches, among others against Atalanta Bergamo and Celta de Vigo.
Tomorrow, as their first competitive match of the season, the Eagles will battle it out with third division club 1. FC Magdeburg. The winner of the match enters the second round of the German Cup Competition (DFB-Pokal). The kick-off will take place on Sunday, 21 August 2016, at 15.30 CET. Let us keep our fingers crossed that the Eagles will have a successful start into the new season.
As always, keep on following Frankfurt – over land and sea!
Sincerely yours,
The English Eintracht Internet Team
