Dear friends,
Eintracht Frankfurt are happy to present you the first edition of their quarterly international newsletter. With the help of the newsletter we would like to keep you updated about Eintracht Frankfurt’s activities. Since we cannot physically be present in every market at the same time, we would like to stay in touch with you throughout the year by these means.
The 2014/15 season of Eintracht Frankfurt had a touch of spectacle. Despite plenty of key players leaving and a new coach and staff joining Eintracht managed to finish ninth. 118 goals were scored in games in which SGE participated, by far the most. The Eagles scored the fourth most goals (56) and for the first time in 21 years (since Anthony Yeboah in 1994) an Eintracht player won the Golden Boot: Alexander “The Great” Meier who netted 19 times in only 26 games.
The quite emotional campaign of Eintracht was also approved by the supporters; 48,000 on average came to see the home games at Commerzbank Arena.
Globally, we have been quite active so far in the last season. In this newsletter, we are looking at our German-Japanese friendship and our eventful training camp in Abu Dhabi. We hope that you will enjoy reading about Eintracht Frankfurt’s diverse international activities – both abroad as well as in Frankfurt, bringing the international communities closer to this club.
Yours sincerely,

Eintracht Frankfurt meets Japan
Jikei Group of Colleges In November 2014, Sporting Director Bruno Hübner and manager Thomas Schaaf visited Japan to establish Eintracht’s partnership with The Jikei Group of Colleges, which operates 64 professional training colleges and other educational institutions with more than 35,000 students throughout Japan. The aim of the collaboration is to transfer Eintracht’s expertise to the Japanese education centers and its students. At the same time, the Group, through its Tokyo College of Sports and Recreation, will support Eintracht’s scouting activities in Japan. Throughout their trip, Bruno Hübner and Thomas Schaaf gave several lectures and experienced first-hand how popular football is in this country. They were impressed by the Japanese interest in German football and Eintracht Frankfurt, which reaffirmed the importance and purpose of the collaboration. Finally, they watched Japan’s 6:0 win over Honduras with Eintracht players Makoto Hasebe and Takashi Inui, the latter scoring a brace. |

Eintracht Frankfurt meets Japan
Japanese Event On invitation of Heribert Bruchhagen (CEO of Eintracht Frankfurt), Gerhard Wiesheu (Bankhaus Metzler) and Koichi Katakawa (Chairman of Hojinkai Frankfurt) a delegation of the large Japanese community in Frankfurt attended an Eintracht match at the Commerzbank-Arena. Eintracht CFO Axel Hellmann welcomed the 60 international guests in the brand-new event-box of the club. Among the guests were the Japanese ambassador, His Excellency Takeshi Nakane and the Japanese Consul General Hideyuki Sakamoto.
Moreover, Eintracht was honoured to welcome high-ranking Japanese representatives from industry and commerce as well as from the city of Yokohama. Besides Eintracht’s 5:2 win over Werder Bremen, signed pennants and jersey’s were given to the guests of honour. Furthermore Axel Hellmann presented Eintracht’s application for a sponsoring membership to Gerhard Wiesheu in his position as chairman of the DJW (German-Japanese economic community).
The Japanese guests themselves saw the openness of our two prominent Japanese players, Makoto Hasebe and Takashi Inui, as they visited the box together with Bruno Hübner and Thomas Schaaf after the successful match against Bremen. This event showed that the commitment between Eintracht Frankfurt and Japan is not only a successful relationship on the football pitch!
Japan Special: SGE’s Nippon Connection
Makoto Hasebe and Talashi Inui are Eintracht’s “Blue Samurai” – both Japanese internationals. From a recent twitter chat with Takashi and an interview with Makoto we sum up their statements for you. |

Eintracht Frankfurt meets Japan
Japanese Flair in Frankfurt Part of the last matchday of the 2014/15 season – Eintracht played at home against Bayer Leverkusen – was an official reception for a Japanese delegation. Eintracht CEO Heribert Bruchhagen and CFO Axel Hellmann welcomed Mr. Yasuhiko Okudera (president of Japanese football club Yokohama FC), Dr Kunihiko Ukifune (CEO of The Jikei Group of Colleges – Eintracht’s partner) and various delegates of the companies Heartful Create and Sansei Corporation.
Board and coaching team took the guests from Japan to a welcome dinner during which the existing collaboration between The Jikei Group of Colleges and Eintracht was extended. Further opportunities of collaborating were presented and discussed during a meeting on Saturday after which the whole delegation went to see the match at Commerzbank Arena.
After a very positive day, a great match including plenty of good conversations and the Japanese guests receiving Eintracht jerseys, a special moment at the box took place when Bundesliga record player and SGE legend Karl-Heinz “Charly” Körbel met Yasuhiko Okudera; both had played in Bundesliga during the seventies and eighties. |

Abu Dhabi 2015
Winter Training Camp For the third year, German Bundesliga club Eintracht Frankfurt visited Abu Dhabi for their annual winter training camp. From 13 – 21 January 2015, the players, coaches and staff enjoyed outstanding conditions at the Emirates Palace while preparing for the second half of the season, where everything was made possible by the hotel’s team to make Eintracht feel at home.
Throughout the stay, the team played two friendlies at the state-of-the-art Hazza Bin Zayed stadium, fostered their existing partnerships with National Health Insurance – Daman as well as Al Ain Club Investment Company, supported social projects, visited local schools and made interesting new contacts. Below, you will find more information on the diverse activities that the club undertook in Abu Dhabi, which were again supported by Eintracht shareholder BHF-BANK. |

Abu Dhabi 2015
Eintracht Frankfurt Football Academy For the first time, the Eintracht Frankfurt Football Academy came to Abu Dhabi, headed by all-time Bundesliga record player Karl-Heinz “Charly” Körbel, who has 602 league caps for Eintracht Frankfurt. Together with its coaching team, the Football Academy ran several camps for children at local schools as well as the Emirates Palace – next to the first team training facilities.
Overall, more than 150 children had the chance to experience an original Eintracht Frankfurt training camp throughout our stay in Abu Dhabi. In the future, our coaches will come to Abu Dhabi more frequently to run camps throughout the year. The feedback so far has been overwhelmingly positive:
“I would like to thank Eintracht Frankfurt for allowing our students the opportunity to experience what it’s like to be a professional football player. The students and their parents have not stopped thanking the school for this experience; it has inspired and motivated them to work harder in achieving their goals. This project was one of the best trips the children have been on and it will remain a memorable experience for them all.”

Abu Dhabi 2015
AACIC – HBZ Stadium In light of Eintracht’s cooperation with Al Ain FC and its club investment company – AACIC – two friendlies were played at the highly modern Hazza Bin Zayed stadium. The stadium has recently been named Stadium of the Year 2014 by a specialised jury of architects. As part of their 1st Annual Festival to celebrate this region’s unique facilities, Eintracht played against Bundesliga opponent Hamburger SV as well as Al Ain FC, the most successful football club in the history of the UAE. The AACIC team had previously been to Frankfurt several times for stadium operations training and have in turn welcomed Eintracht with great hospitality and perfect organisation during their stay. The cooperation, currently in its first year, has been of great success so far, which gives hope for an even more fruitful cooperation in the long-term. |

Abu Dhabi 2015
Daman – Super 11 Continuing our cooperation with National Health Insurer – Daman, the winners of the annual Super 11 tournament were honored in a ceremony where the traditional blazers as well as Eintracht jerseys were handed over by Eintracht supervisory board member Philip Holzer, Daman CEO Dr. Michael Blitzer and Dr. Jamal Mohammed Al Hosani, board member of Al Wahda FC, in front of teachers, family and friends. Subsequently, the winners enjoyed an exclusive training session with Eintracht’s Football Academy, followed by a get-together with the guests. Eintracht continues to support Daman in their fight against childhood obesity and their endeavor to foster a more active and healthy lifestyle among youth in the UAE. The next Super 11 tournament will hopefully see an even greater expansion throughout Abu Dhabi and beyond. On top of that, Eintracht has been instrumental in the delivery of Daman’s Coach Training Programme earlier in 2014, which had prepared the coaches prior to the tournament. |

BHF-BANK Since Eintracht’s first training camp in Abu Dhabi in January 2013, BHF-BANK – a shareholder of Eintracht Frankfurt – has been of great assistance both in terms of organization as well as being a facilitator for new business contacts and partnerships. Two years later, in January 2015, the bank’s Abu Dhabi representative office for the third time hosted Eintracht Frankfurt and a variety of key stakeholders from UAE business and politics for an evening reception with a total of 150 guests, providing a perfect end to a very successful trip to the UAE. |
